This fourth edition of the magazine Dialogue covers diverse aspects of the broad spectrum of vintage photography. Initiated by the Dialogue Foundation, it was released to coincide with the seventh edition of the Dialogue Vintage Photography Festival, held in Amsterdam on 20 September 2025. This year’s theme, Celebrations, invites us to explore the many ways in which photography captures festivity, memory and togetherness. Among the highlights is an article by English collector Paul Frecker, whose acclaimed book 2024 Cartomania traced the nineteenth-century craze for cartes de visite.
