Series Monographs on Dutch Photographers, Volume 10
Author Anneke van Veen
The book recounts the life and work of Jacob Olie, a man of many talents – a carpenter, photographer, teacher and architect. His photography – which, for Olie, was little more than a private pursuit and was interwoven with his work as an architect, drawing teacher and headmaster of the first technical school in the Netherlands – captures Amsterdam and its inhabitants in the second half of the 19th century.
