Photography Ed van der Elsken
Author Tamara Berghmans
Ed van der Elsken moved to Paris in 1950 where he befriended a group of young bohemians. Closely following and photographing their everyday movements, he intertwined fiction and reality into a new genre of the photobook. The author’s reconstruction of this process from unpublished documents – contact prints, sketches, maps – reveals the nihilist world view of these young people and the cinematographic layout of the book.
